Day 10, My Friends! #NaBloPoMo

Seems like a good time for a little update on how things have been going for me. Let me tell you a little about why I decided to do NaBloPoMo in the first place.
 

In the middle of last summer, I weighed 185.8 pounds. That’s not a ridiculous weight for a solidly-built gal of 5’9″, but it’s definitely more than I’ve ever weighed before — or ever wanted to weigh. Beyond that, I just wasn’t feeling like myself. I needed to get in better shape and build some better habits — NOT to look better, just to feel better.
 

So, I decided to go on Weight Watchers. I’m the type of person who doesn’t do well when I’m not supposed to eat certain things, so I figured that the Weight Watchers technique of eating what you want but in the right amounts would work for me.
 

And it has! As of this morning I’m at 168.6lbs — 17.2lbs down! Thanks Weight Watchers. 😀 It feels great. And I don’t just mean fitting back into my one and only pair of expensive jeans (although that completely rocks). I have control of my eating habits again. I no longer mindlessly wolf down a bag of chips when I’m feeling snacky; I scoop a reasonable portion into a bowl and take the time to enjoy each salty, delicious bite.
 

More than that… for the first time in a long time I set out to accomplish something that would take more than an afternoon, and I’m actually sticking to it. I’ve felt for a long time like I’ve just been spinning my wheels, and I’ve been at a loss as to how to start moving forward again. Succeeding at Weight Watchers has reminded me that if you want to reach your goals, you have to actually try to reach them!
 

And so, with one modest goal under my belt (although the Weight Watchers journey continues!), I’ve decided to tackle another one: to start really writing again. That’s going to be a multi-step process over a long period of time, of course, but the first step is to JUST. START. WRITING.
 

Hence, NaBloPoMo! I’ll be continuing to post daily here throughout the month, and I’m hoping to also find some time to write up my About Page content. I’d like to begin clarifying my goals for this blog, and I think that’s a good place to start!
 

So please, READ, and more importantly — WRITE! Either in your own blog or in my comments section, I’m easy…

  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Feels awesome, doesn’t it? Are you doing Simply Filling or Points Plus? I’m doing Simply Filling and down 20.. slipping a bit lately though, I must get this under control before the holidays!! LOL Looking forward to following your journey.. 🙂
